Span and Salon located in Montreal, in the intersection of Dorchester St. and Peel St., First floor of the Dominion Square Building.

"Let them eat cake..."

The design is inspired by Marie Antoinette and the Petit Triaton. As she is considered like the first celebrity of History and a symbol of female and Versalles excess. 

She is also a major figure linked with conservatism, the Catholic Church, wealth, and fashion that remains until today as an ikon whose style influenced the fashion industry and design.

In a city like Montreal with the incredible French influence, there is no one better to inspire a beauty and relaxation sanctuarium than Marie Antoinette. 

The charactics of the Petit Triaton are the base for this design.

   **Use of the classical orders like balaustres and columns

   **Pastel colors

   **Use of wooden paneling

   **Fabrics with floral motives

The Design Axis...

​

•The use of pastel tones as the palette of colors

•Use of wood panels decorated with golden flowers and arabesque styles

•Use of furniture with architectural decorations

•Use of color in the ceilings

•Use of reproductions of details of the architectural classic orders.

•Use of checker kind of floors overall in the wet areas

•Center the distribution around the wet area.

•Work over open spaces and the use of fabric division as curtains or wood doors with crystal or differentiation with level.

•Maintain as possible the height of the space so it would look bigger and more monumental

•The illumination in general should mimic the light given by the candles, so it’s important to consider focalized illumination for the salon area for the hair work and the nails work.

The massage areas are designed as a simulation of the classical Doric columns, having a difference level and generation the closure of the with different curtains.

The pool area is in the center of the design and is surrounded by the french door and a series of a design base in the classical Doric columns, mixed with a more eclectic geometrical floor design. As well to give some accent to the pool there is the pink colored tiles.
